Clay Decontamination Mitt

$24.99

Clay Decontamination Mitt

Ceratek’s Clay Decontamination Mitt is designed to safely remove bonded contaminants that washing alone can’t—leaving paint smooth, clean, and ready for polishing, protection, or ceramic coating.

Unlike traditional clay bars, the mitt format allows for better control, faster coverage, and easier use, while being reusable and more durable.

What It Removes

  • Industrial fallout

  • Brake dust & rail dust

  • Overspray

  • Embedded road grime

Safe for clear coat, glass, and painted surfaces when used correctly.

Why Use a Clay Mitt

  • Faster than traditional clay bars

  • Reusable & long-lasting

  • Even pressure & consistent results

  • Ideal for pre-polish or pre-ceramic prep

How to Use the Clay Mitt (Important)

Step 1: Wash the Vehicle

Thoroughly wash the vehicle first to remove loose dirt and debris.
Never clay a dirty surface.

Step 2: Prepare Lubrication

Use a dedicated clay lubricant or a properly diluted rinseless wash.

The surface must remain well-lubricated at all times to prevent marring.

Step 3: Test the Surface

Lightly glide the clay mitt across a small section using very light pressure.

  • If the surface feels rough → continue

  • If it feels smooth → move to the next area

Step 4: Clay the Surface

  • Work in small sections (2×2 ft)

  • Use straight-line motions, not circles

  • Apply minimal pressure — let the mitt do the work

You should feel the surface become smoother as contaminants are removed.

Step 5: Rinse & Inspect

Rinse the area or wipe clean with a microfiber towel.
Feel the surface with clean hands to confirm smoothness.

Step 6: Clean the Mitt

After use:

  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water

  • Allow to air dry

  • Store clean and dry for next use

Important Tips

  • Do not use on hot surfaces

  • Do not use dry

  • If dropped on the ground, rinse thoroughly before continuing

  • Light marring is normal and can be removed with polishing if necessary

When to Clay

  • Before polishing

  • Before applying wax, sealant, or ceramic coating

  • When paint feels rough after washing

Summary

✔ Removes bonded contaminants
✔ Faster and easier than clay bars
✔ Reusable and durable
✔ Essential for proper paint prep

Clean paint starts below the surface.

WARNING

Clay decontamination may introduce light marring. Polishing is recommended before applying long-term protection.
